Saido Berahino: West Brom to hold talks after deadline day bid
West Bromwich Albion will hold talks with frustrated striker Saido Berahino after Tottenham's failed deadline day bid to sign him.
The England Under-21 international will be fined for his comments on Twitter which appeared to be critical of chairman Jeremy Peace.
He turned down two late bids for the 22-year-old, criticising Spurs "antics" in trying to get the player "cheaply".
Berahino will meet with manager Tony Pulis and other key figures on Friday.
The club said they will attempt to reintegrate last season's player's player of the year back into the first team squad after he had a transfer request rejected and then said he was "sad" at how the club had treated him.
He appeared to suggest he would not play for the Baggies under Peace's chairmanship.
Peace, who is currently away on holiday, will be available on conference call for the meeting.
Spurs also had two other bids for the forward rejected in the summer. and Peace told the club website after Tuesday's deadline passed: "Those tactics have continued despite my making our position clear in my first conversation with Daniel Levy on this subject in mid-August.
"I said selling Saido so late in the window was not on our agenda. We are now left with the task of repairing the damage created by this unfortunate episode."
West Brom said that Tottenham did not offer enough in their initial down-payment or the final total of £22.5m spread over five years – dependant on Berahino's appearances and where Spurs finished in the Premier League.
