TEAM NEWS
Fabio Borini is expected to be involved for Sunderland after rejoining the club from Liverpool.
Adam Johnson and Jordi Gomez are back in training but neither are match fit, while loanee DeAndre Yedlin is ineligible to face his parent club.
New signing Son Heung-min could make his Spurs debut.
Midfielder Christian Eriksen will remain sidelined because of a knee injury, and Moussa Dembele is also out with a foot problem.
MOTD COMMENTATOR’S NOTES
Guy Mowbray: "Exactly one year on from the same fixture last season, this feels like a meeting of quite some significance.
"If Sunderland don't get their first win soon we'll all be writing them off, and it's imperative that the slight improvement shown at Aston Villa two weeks ago is built upon.
"There will surely be starts for 'new' boys Fabio Borini and Ola Toivonen.
"Spurs – also winless – will be targeting this one big time with tough tasks against Crystal Palace and Manchester City coming next. They, too, looked a gear up last time out, with 20 shots on Everton's goal in their 0-0 draw.
"Chances will come again here, but this time MUST be taken."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY
Sunderland head coach Dick Advocaat: "Spurs are a very good side with some very good individuals. They only have two points, not enough for them, same for us. If we let them play we have no chance."
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino on new signing Son Heung-min: "Son scored three goals in his game for the national team and arrived on Monday and trained very well all week.
"When Son started to play in Germany for Hamburg, he played as a number nine, as a striker. After, when Leverkusen signed him, he started to play as number seven and number 11 or he can play number 10. But he is a striker that played wider at Leverkusen."
LAWRO’S PREDICTION
Both sides have signed strikers since their last league game, and it will be interesting to see whether either of them have an effect.
