Ricardo Moniz: Notts County boss says referees are 'arrogant'
Notts County manager Ricardo Moniz has accused match officials of being "arrogant" following Tuesday's League Cup second-round defeat by Aston Villa.
The Magpies, who went on to lose 5-3 in extra-time, were leading 3-2 when Villa were awarded a 78th-minute penalty.
"How can you give such a decision? It's not even a foul," Moniz, whose side are 16th in the League Two table, told Golsicilia.it Radio Nottingham.
"I ask for an explanation but they are arrogant. Am I ever arrogant? Never."
Notts led three times in the thrilling eight-goal cup tie at Villa Park, but Scott Sinclair completed his hat-trick and Joe Bennett was on target to book the hosts a third-round tie at home to local rivals Birmingham City.
"It's unbelievable for me," said Moniz. "What can be behind it? I never want to complain but sometimes you have to stand up.
"I can't understand it but I have to accept it. We are great losers.
"Notts County represented themselves in the best way and I hope we will bring this confidence into the league."
