Striker Kyle Lafferty insists he wants to contribute more for Northern Ireland – even though he has scored six goals in a sparkling Euro 2016 campaign.
The 27-year-old has lacked game time, having been unable to command a first-team place at Norwich City.
But he scored against the Faroe Islands on Friday in a win which leaves Michael O'Neill's men knowing they can qualify by beating Hungary in Belfast.
"I never imagined that we would be in this position," said Lafferty.
"This could be the first time Northern Ireland have ever qualified for a Euro finals. It really is some achievement and we can't wait to make sure we get across the finish line."
‘I wasn’t match fit’ – Lafferty
Lafferty conceded his lack of sharpness and the possibility of a suspension tempered his efforts somewhat against the Faroes in Torshavn.
"If I'm honest, I think my performance showed that I wasn't match fit," he added.
"My lack of game time really showed. But come Monday night I want to make more of a contribution.
"I know I have to help the team go out and get three points. It was constantly in my mind that I was one booking away from a suspension so I couldn't play my natural game.
"But on Monday night I will not be thinking about the yellow card, I will be giving it my absolute all."
NI’s history boys
Northern Ireland have never qualified for the final stages of the European Championships, with 13 unsuccessful qualifying campaigns behind them.
Now, with three Group F fixtures remaining, they need three points to make sure of their place at the Euro 2016 finals in France and secure their place in NI football history.
Northern Ireland started the qualifying series with a 2-1 victory away to Hungary, with Niall McGinn and Kyle Lafferty scoring late goals.
That was followed by victories over the Faroes (twice), Greece and Finland. Their only defeat was away to Romania.
McGovern the new number one
Michael McGovern appears to have made the NI goalkeeping position his own.
The 31-year-old, from Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, is captain of Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical, having joined the Lanarkshire club from Falkirk last year.
McGovern made his competitive international debut against Romania at Windsor Park in June after Roy Carroll pulled out because of illness.
His performance in the 0-0 draw saw him keep his place for last Friday's trip to the Faroe Islands.
