Stockport County player banned for 10 games for alleged bite
Stockport County midfielder Glenn Rule has been banned for 10 games by the Football Association after appearing to bite an opponent on the thigh.
He was sent off for the alleged bite on Stalybridge Celtic's Aaron Chalmers in the National League North on 29 August.
The FA stated that Rule's behaviour constituted "violent conduct in circumstances where the standard punishment of three games… was clearly insufficient."
Stalybridge won the game 3-0.
The alleged incident happened in the 33rd minute after Rule reacted to a challenge from Chalmers, and footage shows Chalmers then pointing to his thigh.
County say they will make no further comment until they receive the "full reasons" from the FA's regulatory commission.
The suspension begins with Saturday's home game against Brackley.
