COMMENTATOR’S NOTES
It's a battle between two sides with top-six ambitions.
Caley Thistle surprised just about everyone last season with their third-place finish in the league and picking up silverware when winning the Scottish Cup for the first time in their short history.
Then you have Dundee who in their first campaign back in the Premiership managed to secure their place in the top half of the table with some sterling performances.
A lot of credit for these achievements must go to the managers.
In Paul Hartley, Dundee secured a young, progressive coach who had a winning mentality after securing back-to-back promotions with Alloa Athletic.
And, in John Hughes, Inverness have possibly the most enthusiastic manager in the league, who demands a similar passion from his players.
Caley Thistle certainly hold the upper hand when it comes to head-to-head matches, having lost only one and been victors on seven of their previous 15 league encounters.
But matches between these two have proven to be extremely tight with either a one-goal margin or a draw in all four meetings last season.
Both sides may be disappointed with their start to the season. Dundee have two wins, two defeats and a draw in their five matches played while Caley Thistle have only two points from draws against Partick and St Johnstone to show for their efforts.
With an international break following this weekend, both sides will be hoping they can sign off with a win before getting back to business in the league in two weeks' time.
