New AC Milan loan signing Mario Balotelli "knows what awaits him" if he does not perform, boss Sinisa Mihajlovic says.
Italy international forward Balotelli has returned to the seven-time European champions in a season-long deal from Liverpool.
Balotelli admitted he cannot afford to make any more mistakes in his career.
"When he's ready he'll play. If he behaves well he'll play. Leave the kid alone," added Mihajlovic.
AC Milan entertain Empoli in Serie A on Saturday.
At a news conference on Friday at which he was repeatedly asked whether Balotelli would play, Mihajlovic said: "There's nothing more to add.
"There's no point in saying whether he'll play or won't play, what he ate, how he dresses."
If Balotelli does not play against Empoli, he is likely to make his debut against Inter Milan – another of his former clubs – in the Milan derby on 13 September.
Balotelli's last competitive game was on 28 April.
