Kevin de Bruyne: Winger left out as Man City talks continue
Wolfsburg winger Kevin de Bruyne has been left out of Friday's game with Schalke as talks continue over a move to Manchester City.
The English club have not responded to reports a £58m deal has been agreed for the Belgium international.
However, a source close to the transfer said that talks are "moving in the right direction".
The purchase of Raheem Sterling in July for a fee that could reach £49m is City's current club record.
Earlier, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said the Bundesliga club were in "no rush" to sell De Bruyne to City.
He added that the clubs were in negotiations ahead of the 1 September transfer deadline but that "no agreement" had been reached for the player.
Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking had previously said he expected De Bruyne to be in the squad against Schalke.
Former Chelsea midfielder De Bruyne, 24, joined Wolfsburg in January 2014.
Last season the Belgium international scored 10 goals and provided 21 assists in the Bundesliga.
